(50) Days of Pumpkin: Day 4
Really, Snack Cellar? Why would you set out to do fifty pumpkin reviews? Are you insane?! Well, random guy who happened to find this review on Google, I’ll tell you. It’s because these days, pumpkin is everywhere you look, from top to bottom. 💩
Here’s the thing: if I’m really going to do 50 pumpkin reviews, I’ll have to limit my calories somewhere. That package of Pumpkin Spice Oreos didn’t help, so I’m really going to have to scale it back tonight. Luckily, Fiber One 90 Calorie Pumpkin Bars are back on shelves! My weakness for Fiber One products is well-documented. Let’s just hope the plumbing system at the Snack Cellar household isn’t quite as weak.
I’m sure I enjoy Fiber One products more than most people, but I always maintain that you shouldn’t sleep on their 90 Calorie Bars for several reasons. Number one, they’re low calorie. Number two (heh), they’re usually delicious. And number three, the high fiber content means they’re filling and help keep you regular. Win-win-win.
The back of the box says that Fiber One 90 Calorie Pumpkin Bars are “full of rich pumpkin flavor and the perfect hint of cinnamon spice.” Looking at the ingredients, these bars indeed contain pumpkin flakes, cinnamon, spice, and cream cheese flavored chips. I’m not sure how one acquires “pumpkin flakes,” but it sounds like a seasoning that belongs on all of my meals from now on.
These bars carry a strong smell of pumpkin, like freshly baked pumpkin bread. Each one is visually inviting, too–the bar itself is a sandy brown, with the lighter cream cheese chips poking out randomly and a thin frosting drizzled across the top. Fiber One really nailed the fall vibe with this one.
The scent definitely isn’t misleading–there’s a lot of great pumpkin flavor here, right from the very first bite. The cinnamon taste builds throughout. It provides a “spice” element that’s obviously noticeable but not overpowering. The cream cheese chips don’t really add anything other than a different texture throughout the bar. I was thinking they would add a “cheesecake” twist to this bar given the cream cheese factor, but I’m honestly glad they didn’t.
“Pumpkin Bar” really is an accurate name for these bars–they’re heavily pumpkin, with a decent amount of spice to add some complexity to the overall flavor. Fiber One did a great job with these Limited Edition 90 Calorie Pumpkin Bars, and in my opinion they’re one of Fiber One’s best products. If you’re looking for a lower-calorie snack this season, look no further. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go search eBay for pumpkin flakes.
