[Friday Flash Review] Milka Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar

Friday Flash Reviews are abridged reviews of new or exciting products for your end-of-week reading.

Guys, this is big. I think I figured out Milka and Oreo’s recipe for success. It’s something like this:

  1. Join forces and combine signature products into one candy bar
  2. Profit
  3. Turn that candy bar into a slightly different candy bar
  4. More profit

Damn, they’re good. That’s a hell of a lot better than my recipe for success, which goes something like this:

  1. Eat
  2. Eat some more
  3. ???

In case it wasn’t clear from the incredibly detailed recipe for success above, Milka Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar follows the Milka Oreo Big Crunch Bar that debuted in the U.S. last month. The Chocolate Candy Bar is currently sold in a larger 3.52 oz bar (reviewed here), a “king size” 2.88 oz package of two individual bars, and an individual 1.44 oz bar. The Chocolate Candy Bar’s components are the same as the Big Crunch Bar: rich, creamy Milka chocolate; sweet and velvety creme, and crunchy, chocolaty Oreo wafer pieces.

The only real difference between the two is the construction of the bar itself. Since the Oreo wafers in the Chocolate Candy Bar are broken into bits, there’s a greater textural emphasis on the creme compared to the Big Crunch Bar. The flavor balance seemed to be similar (if not identical) because there are still many Oreo wafer pieces scattered throughout, but I found myself missing the hefty Oreo layer of the Big Crunch Bar. I’ve got to give the Big Crunch Bar a very slight edge, but you really can’t go wrong either way.
