[Friday Flash Review] Blue Bunny Limited Edition Cookie Butter Ice Cream

Friday Flash Reviews are abridged reviews of new or exciting products for your end-of-week reading.

Christmas is just around the corner! I should probably make a to-do list, and check it twice.

  1. Buy presents ✅
  2. Make secret eggnog recipe ✅ (Blend Eggnog Cake Rolls and rum, pour in a glass with ice, enjoy!)
  3. Bake cookies for Santa 🚫

I knew I forgot something! Well, it’s definitely too much work late to bake something now. I guess I’ll just have to see what other cookie-ish things I have lying around…

Blue Bunny Limited Edition Cookie Butter ice cream is speculoos cookie flavored ice cream with cinnamon graham and speculoos caramel swirls and speculoos cookie dough chunks. Let’s start with the speculoos cookie base. It’s a heavy cinnamon and graham flavor–good, but it doesn’t reach the more complex flavor of cookie butter.

The swirls and cookie dough chunks are a different story. The gritty cinnamon graham swirl pairs perfectly with the smooth speculoos caramel swirl to make a buttery cinnamon flavor that I just love. The real star here is the speculoos cookie dough. The chunks are softer (not crunchy, like Biscoff cookies) and made with real molasses so they actually taste like speculoos cookies. Paired with the swirls, the cookie dough elevates this flavor from good to great.

When I tasted the base alone, I was a little concerned that Blue Bunny Cookie Butter ice cream was going to be a massive letdown, but the swirls and cookie dough chunks put my mind at ease. This is just a great ice cream flavor, and in my opinion, does “cookie butter” better than Cookie Butter Oreos. Santa isn’t getting any cookies from me this year, but Blue Bunny Cookie Butter ice cream is a pretty great alternative.

How Much It Cost and Where I Bought It: $3.97 at Walmart

In a Nutshell: Speculoos base ice cream is average, but swirls and cookie dough chunks more than make up for it. Crossing my fingers that Santa gets here before the ice cream melts.
