Snack Cellar’s Keys to the Game, Brought to You By Michelin Tires:

  1. Chips Ahoy! Cereal looks to beat Cookie Crisp at its own game
  2. Peanut Butter Chocolate Blasted Shreds look to avenge the loss of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Blasted Shreds earlier in the Wildcard round
  3. Since Reese’s Puffs are also made by General Mills, it’s just a matter of time until Peanut Butter Chocolate Blasted Shreds are rebranded as Reese’s Shreds (I’m a marketing genius)
Chips Ahoy! Cereal

When I saw Chips Ahoy! Cereal at Walmart, I had one thought: plain chocolate chip cookies are great, but why didn’t they go with Hot Cocoa or Cinnamon Donut instead? And when I tasted Chips Ahoy! Cereal in my mouth, I had another thought: why did I buy 19 ounces of this crap? The initial smell and taste of Chips Ahoy! Cereal is something close to…butterscotch, or caramel? I don’t really know, but it’s not chocolate chip cookie. The flavor actually reminded me of Girl Scouts Caramel Crunch Cereal. I hate this stuff even more in milk.

Score: 5 out of 10

Peanut Butter Chocolate Blasted Shreds

From my review of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Blasted Shreds earlier in the Wildcard round: “As the old saying goes, you can put lipstick on a pig, but that pig is still shredded wheat.” Well, I’m about to eat some humble pie on this one because Peanut Butter Chocolate Blasted Shreds are much more than lipstick on a pig. They burst with a sweet, nutty peanut butter and dark cocoa combination, and–here’s where they best their Cinnamon Toast Crunch kin–I never tasted shredded wheat. The peanut butter chocolate coating masks the shredded wheat biscuit perfectly, save for its gritty texture. Peanut Butter Chocolate Blasted Shreds do lose their crunch in milk, but their great flavor is worth the soggy wheat.

Score: 8.5 out of 10

And your winner is: General Mills Peanut Butter Chocolate Blasted Shreds!
