[2-Pack Review] Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios vs. Nutter Butter Cereal (2018 Cereal Bowl Cap’n Crunch Conference Championship)

The Matchup: #2 Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios vs. #1 Nutter Butter Cereal

Since we’ve already seen these competitors before, let’s remind ourselves how they got to the Cap’n Crunch Conference Championship, and then compare their Snack Stats to determine who’s moving on to the Cereal Bowl Championship.

The Road to Cap’n Crunch
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios took down the upstart Pink Donut Donut Shop Cereal in a close matchup in the Divisional round
  • Nutter Butter Cereal also edged out its Divisional round foe, Chocolate Frosted Flakes
  • Since Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios scored an 8, and Nutter Butter Cereal scored an 8.5, it should be pretty obvious who’s winning this one, but I’m going to keep writing anyway because I don’t have a life and dammit please just let me have this

  1. Taste: I think I’m having the snack blogger’s version of a quarter life crisis, because this is like choosing between growing up and staying a kid forever. The sophisticated flavor of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios is a welcome surprise, and it’s far less “Reese’s Puffs” than you might think it’s going to be, even borderline salty at times. On the flip side, Nutter Butter Cereal is true to the cookie’s flavor, with a creamy, sweet peanut butter flavor that’s downright addicting, though maybe a bit overwhelming in its sugar content. Advantage: Nutter Butter Cereal
  2. Texture: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios have a powdery coating that’s actually pretty exotic by Cheerio standards. (Stupid sexy Cheerios.) Nutter Butter Cereal has an excellent dense crunch. At the end of the day, Nutter Butter Cereal is just fun to eat. Advantage: Nutter Butter Cereal
  3. Milk Factor: Nutter Butter holds up well in milk. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios…not so much. Advantage: Nutter Butter Cereal
  4. Intangibles: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios seem like they should have been made as a regular Cheerios flavor a long time ago, but they’re finally here and well worth the wait. Nutter Butter Cereal is a great innovation amid the rather stale (heh) “cookies for breakfast” gimmick. Both are welcome additions to the cereal aisle. Advantage: TIE

And your winner is: Post Nutter Butter Cereal!
