[3-Pack Review] Nabisco Fudge Dipped Oreo Thins Bites (Original, Coconut, and Mint)

It’s the first day of February, which means it’s a perfect time to check in on all of those resolutions we made a month ago. Some people committed to learning a new language. Others planned to volunteer more. But I kept it simple. I pledged to get thin and eat less foods that are covered in other foods.

Well…I’m doing okay with the “thin” part at least.

Oreo Thin, that is.

Nabisco Fudge Dipped Oreo Thins Bites are here, and they’re perfect for the snacker who wants a cookie that’s a little lighter, and then completely drenched in fudge. They come in three flavors: Original, Coconut, and Mint. There’s also a new non-fudge dipped variety, which might as well not even exist because it’s missing the best part. What’s next, Lucky Charms without the marshmallows?!

Original Fudge Dipped Oreo Thins Bites

Let’s keep it simple to start. The fudge coating on Oreo Thins Bites is great–sweet and creamy, with a rich chocolate flavor. The Oreo cookie has just a slight crunch, thanks to its slimmer profile, but the darker cocoa flavor is still there. And though I was concerned the sweet fudge coating would cancel out the sugary creme, both stand out on their own.

Original Fudge Dipped Oreo Thins Bites are incredibly snackable, but they’re also not overly exciting. Nothing against simplicity since I still enjoy these, but I’m looking forward to some added flavor in the creme.

Coconut Fudge Dipped Oreo Thins Bites

This is a chance for redemption. I was pretty unimpressed with Coconut Oreo Thins–can Nabisco win me over by dunking them in fudge? The answer, of course, is yes. The rich fudge coating brings out the sweeter, more floral notes of the (artificial) coconut creme, and the more bitter chocolate cookie takes a backseat.

In my Coconut Oreo Thins review, I said the creme just didn’t work with the cookie. It turns out, the creme does work with the cookie, they just needed to douse it in fudge!

Mint Fudge Dipped Oreo Thins Bites

Last but not least: Mint. Mint Oreo Thins predate this blog, so I’ve never had a chance to properly profess my love for them. Needless to say, my love extends to their smaller, fudge-covered kin, too. The cool mint pairs harmoniously with the sweet fudge coating and darker chocolate cookie, like a bite sized version of a Thin Mint cookie.

The one caveat is that the mint in these Oreo Thins Bites seems stronger than Thin Mints, so your mileage will vary based on how much mint you can handle, but these are the clear winner in my book.

Nabisco’s new Fudge Dipped Oreo Thins Bites are all tasty, and you really can’t go wrong with any of the three. I’m looking forward to seeing even more flavors in this line, like Fudge Dipped Red Velvet Oreo Thins Bites or Fudge Dipped Reese’s Oreo Thins Bites. I’d eat ’em all, because let’s be real: we’ve all given up on our resolutions at this point anyway.

There’s always next year.
